Tsi Tsa Falls

Last weekend the other volunteers and I took a daytrip about an hour north, to Tsi Tsa falls. Once again, a beautiful location! This place was totally deserted, other than the local children who were doing laundry and swimming in the river. As I’ve come to expect, they stared for a while and followed us around everywhere we went. But for a change they were not demanding money or being annoying, as has been the case most places I go, so they were pleasant enough company. It was a nice afternoon of sharing a picnic with friends and exploring the area on a hot (over 30 degrees!) day. It was exciting to be able to walk right up to the edge of the falls (don’t worry, I did so very safely…) without any guard rails or security guards getting in the way. Since winter is the dry season here and there has not been very much rain yet this spring, there was not a lot of water flowing, and I can imagine that it will be all the more impressive in summer. But still beautiful now, and it was a nice little outing.

I can´t see the children doing laundry in this photo ;) I can only imagine its grandeur in summer. Looks neat!
